Honor has today announced the all-new Honor 30 series, which includes the Honor 30, Honor 30 Pro, and Honor 30 Pro+, in China. Although the three devices in the lineup share a similar design language, the Honor 30 Pro and 30 Pro+, are more on the higher-end with slightly better internals than the vanilla Honor 30, that is, well a toned-down version of the Pro variants and marketed as a compact smartphone. Let’s jump in and look at these devices in detail.
Honor 30
The Honor 30 features a 6.53-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. It has a small punch-hole cutout on the top-left, as can be seen on most smartphones these days, for housing the front-facing camera. The phone comes in four color options: Neon Purple, Black, Green, and Silver.
At its core, the vanilla Honor 30 comes with an octa-core Kirin 985 chipset with Mali-G76 GPU, running under the hood, coupled with 6/8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage. To power the internals, the device has a 4000mAh battery with 40W fast charging support. Among other things, there is support for 5G (SA / NSA mode), WiFi 6, and NFC.
In the camera department, the Honor 30 features a quad-camera setup on the rear, which includes a 40MP RYYB IMX600 sensor, along with an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, an 8MP telephoto lens, and a 2MP macro lens. On the front, the phone comes with a single 32MP shooter, housed in the punch-hole cutout, for selfies.
Honor 30 Pro and Honor 30 Pro+
Both, the Honor 30 Pro and 30 Pro+ feature the same 6.57-inch OLED with QHD+ resolution. Unlike the vanilla model, the Pro variants get a 90Hz refresh rate and have a panel that is slightly curved towards the edges. Moreover, they come with an in-display fingerprint scanner for authentication and also offer Gorilla Glass protection. Further, there is a punch-hole cutout on the top-left, similar to the vanilla model, to house the front-facing camera. The Honor 30 Pro shares the same color options as the regular Honor 30, whereas, the Honor 30 Pro+ comes in three different colorways, namely: Black, Silver, and Green.
Under the hood, the Honor 30 Pro and 30 Pro+ are powered by the Kirin 990 5G chipset, which is the latest offering from the company with the Mali-G76 GPU. Out of the two, the Pro comes with 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage, whereas, the Pro+ gets 8/12GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The storage on both models can be further expanded with a nanoSD card. Besides, the two phones come with the same 4000mAh battery with 40W fast charging to power the internals. However, the 30 Pro+ gets support for 27W fast reverse wireless charging, in addition.
For optics, the Honor 30 Pro and 30 Pro+ sport a triple-camera setup on the rear. The setup on the 30 Pro includes a 40MP RYYB IMX600 sensor with a 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens and an 8MP periscope lens with 10x hybrid zoom and 50x digital zoom. On the other hand, the 30 Pro+ gets a 50MP RYYB IMX700 sensor, which is the same as the Huawei P40 Pro, accompanied with a 16MP ultra-wide-angle lens and an 8MP periscope lens with 50x hybrid zoom and 10x hybrid zoom. Moving to the front, the two phones share the same dual-camera setup, housed within the punch-hole, which includes a 32MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor.
